Ambedkar Park - One of the Best Park of Lucknow - OUP Places

Ambedkar Park in Lucknow, often known as Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal, is a public park and memorial in Vipul Khand of Gomti Nagar.

This unique place is dedicated to Dr B R Ambedkar, who served as our nation’s first law minister and was a well-known social reformer in 20th-century India.

In addition to Dr B R Ambedkar, the park also holds the names of other social reformers, including Jyotiba Phule, Birsa Munda, Kanshi Ram, and Sree Narayana Guru. The park has many monuments and statues,  including a massive statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The park was constructed under the administration of our former CM Mayawati Ji. The park serves as an essential reminder of the vital work that these inspiring figures contributed to the development of our country.

History

The first stone laid down to build the Park was in 1995. During that time, the Park was known as “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Udyan.”

The Park was given a new name in 2002. “Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial.” It was then renovated in 2007 to make it even better. 

It was officially opened to the public on 14 April 2008 by the former CM Mayawati.

Architecture

Ambedkar Park in Lucknow was built with a unique red stone brought from Rajasthan. 

 Dr. Ambedkar, who devoted his whole career to encouraging justice and equality in society, served as an inspiration for the park’s layout and design. His remarkable life and work are reflected in the park.

What’s especially amazing is that the park has 124 enormous elephant statues!

Special Attractions of the Park

1. Ambedkar stupa

Ambedkar Park in Lucknow is a very significant location, and the Ambedkar Stupa, that’s the heart of the memorial, can be found there. 

The stupa is shaped like a flower with four petals and houses Four opposite doorways. The inner space of the stupa is filled with statues that tell the life story of Dr B R Ambedkar.

The Ambedkar Stupa also houses an enormous bronze statue of Dr. Ambedkar sitting in a chair. The height of the Statue is 125 feet. The base of the Statue holds an engraving line: ” My struggle of life is my only message”. 

The place uses beautiful art and architecture to remember Dr B R Ambedkar.

2. Dr Bhimrao Ambedhkar Samajik parivartan sangrahalaya

Covering an area of 2.5 acres, there is a museum in Ambedkar Park, Lucknow, that has two extensive dome-like roofs. These domes house statues of many notable persons.

In one dome, you’ll find giant statues of significant figures like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Shri Narayan Guru, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Shri Kanshiram. 

 There are substantial 18-foot-tall marble statues of Tathagat Gautam Buddha, Sant Kabir Das, Sant Ravidas, Guru Ghasidas, and Shri Birsa Munda in another building.

 Dr Bhimrao Ambedhkar Samajik Parivartan Sangrahalaya is not just about statues. The museum and library over here are dedicated to the life and work of Dr. Ambedkar.  

The museum contains artifacts from Dr. Ambedkar’s life, including many items and souvenirs. There are numerous books and documents about Dr. Ambedkar’s work in the library. 

It’s a unique spot where you can learn a lot about Dr. Ambedkar and other important people in an exciting way.

It was constructed on a sizable plot of ground that measured roughly 4 acres. The walls of the gallery are covered with bronze artwork, such as interesting pictures. There is also a little shop where you may purchase used books and other items. 

4. Pratibimb Sthal

62 elephant statues on either side of the Pratibimb Sthal i.e, the main entrance to the memorial in Lucknow’s Ambedkar Park. There is also a large melodious fountain not far from the memorial’s entrance.

5. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Drashya Sthal

This unique spot is hidden behind Pratibimb Sthal and is constructed on an 80-foot-tall pyramid-shaped building. It provides a fantastic view of the entire park, including the temples, buildings, and surroundings. Water is constantly flowing from the top of this building.

Ambedkar Park is one of the best parks to visit in Lucknow. Especially during the night, this park glows beautifully. The statues and architecture of the park are marvelous and pretty.
